The Health and Safety Executive guide HS(G) 39 states:
‘requirements for quick acting couplings apply to most percussive and vibrating air tools, which may be xed or hand held. If a quick acting coupling socket is tted at the hose end adjacent to the tool, the plug should not be screwed directly into the inlet port but should be tted onto a short isolation hose (0.5 m to 1.5 m long), thus isolating the plug and socket from the tool vibration.’
