Low Pressure Filters

Low pressure filters are the most commonly used type of filter in hydraulic circuits, used most often as return line filters in applications with working pressures up to 150 PSI and static pressure up to 300 PSI.

The range of Donaldson filters offers flow / pressure combinations to fit most applications.

High Pressure Filters

Heavy-duty high-pressure filters sit behind pumps and other prime movers to protect critical hydraulic components such as cylinders, motors and valves. All contain Synteq® synthetic filter media, specially developed by Donaldson for high efficiency liquid filtration.

Synteq® Filtration Media

When an application requires higher efficiency filtration than cellulose filter media can deliver, Donaldson uses synthetic media technology. Synthetic media captures more and smaller contaminant than cellulose media.

Synteq® is ideal for filtering synthetic fluids, water glycols, water / oil emulsions; HWCF (high water content fluid) and petroleum-based fluids, and is compatible with most phosphate esters. Working pressures range from 2000 PSI up to 6090 PSI; static pressures from 4500 PSI up to 12000 PSI.

Media Durability

Donaldson uses a variety of techniques to enhance the filter media so it can withstand high working pressures. Oven-curing, wire backing and multiple layers all contribute to media integrity.

Media Ratings

Absolute rating: Absolute filtration rating specifies the diameter of the largest hard, spherical particle that passes through a filter under controlled conditions. The rating is also an indication of the largest opening through a filter.

Nominal rating: Nominal filtration rating is an arbitrary value determined by the filter manufacturer. The rating system refers more to the types and sizes of holes in the filter medium than actual filter performance.

Heavy Duty "Last Chance" Filters

Last Chance filters are generally positioned in-line and upstream in close proximity to the most sensitive and expensive components within a hydraulic system, typically the valves and the actuators, to provide protection in the event of the non-removal of system fluid particulate by the main filter system.
